The RJ45 port supports automatic MDI/MDI-X operation, allowing a direct connection to a PC or server without the need for a crossover cable. In straight-through (MDI) mode, pins 1, 2, 3, and 6 correspond respectively; for switch ports supporting MDI-X, the correspondence is: 1→3, 2→6, 3→1, 6→2. The pin definitions used in MDI/MDI-X for 10Base-T/100Base-TX are shown as follows.
RJ45 Pin Definitions (MDI vs. MDI-X)
Note:
TX = Transmit data
RX = Receive data
“—” = Not used
| Pin No. | MDI Signal | MDI-X Signal |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | TX+ | RX+ |
| 2 | TX- | RX− |
| 3 | RX+ | TX+ |
| 6 | RX− | TX− |
| 4-5-7-8 | — | — |
